Thankfully, my experience so far in England has proved more
fruitful than my trip to Normandy. Yesterday I got up, and got on the “Tube” to
the train station, and left London for Oxford, where I will be spending the
rest of my time here in England. Oxford is where my parents met, but it is also
the home of one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world,
and something I’ve always wanted to see. In many ways, this is a dream come
true!
I arrived in Oxford in the early afternoon, but still had
time to stop at a few places!
First I got a tour the Center for Medieval Renaissance
Studies (CMRS), where my mom went to school.
Then, I got a tour of the Oxford Union, where my dad was on
the standing committee in 1986.
Then I ate at the Eagle and Child, where CS Lewis, JRR
Tolkein, and the rest of the “Inklings” would meet on a daily basis.
Then to top it all off, I got to the Oxford Castle just in
time for the last tour. The history is unbelievable.
