A Day In the Life:
Yesterday I was finally able to confirm an interview with an American missionary who is serving here in France! I’m very excited to hear what he has to say, and I’m also praying that I will be able to serve with him in some capacity throughout the coming weeks. The interview will take place tomorrow (Thursday). I am really excited to get more of a handle on evangelizing here in France – after all, that’s one of the main reasons I am here – and I hope to put into practice what I learn from him! Tomorrow I’ll post a list of the questions I plan on asking him, just to whet your appetites, and then Friday I’ll share what his answers were!

Other than that though yesterday was pretty uneventful – I did homework all day. Although I can honestly say that it was probably the most productive day of my life, the details would still bore you.

That being said, this morning was somewhat of a different story, as I had to babysit my two little host sisters. One of them has been literally begging me to play Barbie with her since I moved in, so I promised to play for 20 minutes. Thankfully 10 of those minutes were spent reading The Velveteen Rabbit (which was on my bucketlist because it was actually Superman’s favorite book as a child and I was pretty pumped when I saw it on their shelf), because 90% of the Barbies were naked and I told them if they didn’t clothe them I was going right back down stairs. Clearly they didn’t want that, so they put clothes on the Barbies and I read my book. It was a win-win-win-win: They had their Barbies, they had me in the same room, I was not playing with the Barbies, and I was reading Superman’s favorite childhood book. Actually not a bad situation.

After that they followed me downstairs to watch me make breakfast, but of course they took it upon themselves to “help” me make breakfast, which consisted of them poking my eggs with scissors and taking a few bites out of the cheese before throwing it away. Let’s just say I have a newfound respect for fathers all over the world.

Christian Hedonism
John Piper is the former pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and founder of world renowned Desiring God Ministries.

John Piper
The philosophy of Hedonism is defined by Merriam-Webster as “the doctrine that pleasure or happiness is the sole or chief good in life.” Christian Hedonism, as defined by Piper, is the notion that “God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him.” Throughout this sermon, Piper
expands on this concept. On the way, he deals with common issues that people have with Christianity – such as God’s perceived selfishness due to the fact that He is always seeking His own glory. Enjoy!
